UNITY

1 Peter 3:8NIV

Finally, all of you, be like-minded, be sympathetic, love one another, be compassionate and humble.

For every part of our lives, the Bible gives us instructions.  Don’t take the Word of God for granted.  Each of us is held accountable for life application of God’s Word.  Today’s scripture gives us specific behaviors to live by and display.

As Christians, we should be on common ground.  Our behavior should be consistent towards one another and others.  It’s somewhat comical to think that some people really believe that they are able to hide their transgressions and/or mask the truth.  Not so, every one of us will have to answer to God for our deeds and misdeed alike.

Whether we hear the word or not, refuse to be doers of the word or shun the word, it won’t excuse us from ungodly behavior that is contrary to 1 Peter 3:8.

Showing sympathy, hurting when our sisters hurt, know that God is watching.  Showing and giving love, even to those who don’t know how to love us back- know that God is watching.  Radiating compassion – celebrating with those who celebrate and offering a helping hand of mercy and assistance to those in need – know that God is watching.  Lastly, being humble, not so quick to boast, dismissing flamboyancy and arrogance in our attitudes.

Unity is very easy.  Only the enemy makes it hard for us.  That’s because we allow ourselves to be used by the enemy, to satisfy the flesh and to seek the approval of people who really don’t matter for the good of our souls.
