Ephesians 3:20 NASB; NLT
Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us,
Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.
First, let me start by saying that we cannot “out-think” God. As confident and well put together as we think we may be, we are no match for God. This scripture was a part of a prayer by Paul for spiritual strength to help the Ephesians put faith into practice. Today, with all that is going on around the world, we must put our faith in God into practice. The world may be out of control, but God IS NOT. God NEVER loses control. The supreme court may overturn laws, the people may break laws, evil may lurk and pull some of us away from God’s laws; and the laws of nature may seem uncertain with unseasonal weather and occurrences. However, never think for one moment that God is out of control or has lost control. Let’s unwrap the scripture:
This scripture begins by ensuring us that God is ABLE. Just because He didn’t show up in the way you expected him to do, doesn’t mean that he is not able to do so. He will do whatever is IN HIS WILL to do. His will may surpass our understanding or approval. His ways are not our ways. He is sovereign and holds the world in His hands.
He can do “immeasurably” more than we ask or imagine. We can’t out-think God. We don’t have the capacity to always see around the corner, know what is going to happen in any given moment, or determine how much God can do. Immeasurable means that we can’t measure God’s ability. We can’t measure or limit God’s majesty. We can’t measure or set boundaries in which God can operate. Therefore, we must stop placing our own limitations on God. Any way He wants to bless us is acceptable. Don’t try to tell Him how to do what only He can do.
Expect the unexpected. God is ALMIGHTY. Yes, we wrestle with some evil principalities that appear to be mightier than God. Don’t be fooled. There is no limit on the power of God; therefore, nothing can place a muzzle on His greatness. He can speak life to the lifeless, He can speak healing to those who are sick, He can speak prosperity to the impoverished, and it shall be done according to His power.
Believe that God’s power works within us through our faith. Use the Holy Spirit that lives in you. Walk by faith, walk by the spirit, not by sight. What we see with physical vision may be misleading or distorted. Our flesh will fool us and misguide us. We have already been pre-approved to exercise the power of God within us through the guidance of the Holy Spirit. What is the Holy Spirit? It is the spirit that lives within us for God’s sake. Pray for that discernment that can only be experienced by the Holy Spirit. Pray for that wisdom in decision making and problem solving. Wisdom comes from God alone. When faced with a tough situation, know that God already has people working on your behalf. God already has decisions that are being made for your benefit. God has it all under control. Don’t believe me? Try it for yourself and watch Him work. Walk in victory!
God is MORE than ENOUGH…Don’t Believe Me, Just Try Him
