Matthew 26:7-15 King James Version (KJV)7 There came unto him a woman having an alabaster box of very precious ointment, and poured it on his head, as he sat at meat.
Luke 7:50 (KJV)
50 And he said to the woman, Thy faith hath saved thee; go in peace.
A woman who was seeking deliverance and forgiveness went to Jesus with faith and expectancy. She knew that Jesus would welcome her as she gave Him the best that she had to give. He didn’t wash her face with all of the many sins that she had committed. He didn’t share all of her disgraces with everyone. He didn’t rebuke and scorn her. He didn’t put her to death. He didn’t stone her. H didn’t remind her of her sins. He didn’t listen to the remarks that others made about her. He forgave her!
What an act of compassion, as the woman stood there weeping in agony. She stood at his feet and wept, despite what others said about her. She was in desperate need of a Savior. She was not ashamed. She was determined to be whole and saved. She exercised weakness (sin) and strength (faith) at the same time. But most of all, Christ exercised COMPASSION.
